Ergonomic Office Equipment
This is an important topic for people who spend 40+ hours per week in front of a computer. Extended use of equipment that is NOT optimal for your wrist, back, or joints can cause long-term health concerns.
You can walk into specialized stores and spends $1000s of dollars. How do you know what is right for you? Try it out. Chairs are critical! Lower back pain is almost always the result of a poor chair or poor posture. A Swooper Stool can help dramatically with this. People who are used to slouching in a dumpy office chair will love these. The downside, they are expensive, and back muscles will be sore for 1-2 weeks when starting to use this stool. However, over time this device improves both posture and muscle strength.
If possible, try to keep something underneath your wrists. This can be done by moving the keyboard and mouse away from the edge. This relieves tension on the wrists which can lead to painful tendon problems. Keyboard drawer attached to the bottom of desks do not provide proper support. We recommend supporting wrists as much as possible. Pain in the corners of the wrist suggest poor positioning and should be evaluated immediately.
Bottom line, proper support makes jobs easier. Nobody should have to work in pain.
